Two New Tracks!

So I didn't get the chance to go across the bridge to get myself a new PC, nor did I go past the research phase of buying a new pair of headphones. I also didn't get round to recording any mix-sets.

HOWEVER: I DID produce a couple of tracks in the last 3 weeks!

First track is called "Plush." It's a feel-good progressive tech-house track that I composed with Ibiza in my mind. You can imagine the size of the smile on my face when a couple of my listeners said the track took them to a beach, in bikinis, with drinks in hand!

The second track is called "Bridgette Jones." This is a dirty electro house track, best described as a pumping heap of over-side-chained funk. I added a little dubstep ditty in the middle, just for good measure. The track was inspired by a fellow twitter user that tweeted the vocal sample "I will not be Bridgette Jones" and answered my call for recording the sample and sending it to me, creating this MONSTER.

I'm pretty happy with how my music is going now. Hope fully the next few projects are going to be even better! I have a classic prog rock Bahraini band remix project with my buddy Adel Jamal of DiscaL, dubstep video-game BGM remixes and MORE!

The Next Step

Given the current situation in Bahrain, it's been tough trying to produce any music. Since my sound is on the funky side, happy vibes drive me more than angst in electronica. I was putting down lyrics most of the time and working on hip-hop/trip-hop beats under the Indigo Glow project. My current studio is also very depressing so I decided I need to do an overhaul of my creative environment. And what better way to start than with a list?

What I need to do:

Get a new PC, probably an assembled one from Saudi
Get a decent soundcard
Make more music live (thanks to @funaki for loaning me his M-Audio Trigger Finger & Axiom keyboard
Make more mix-sets. I have a lot of good music I want to share and what better way to enjoy it than in a mix?
New headphones. My pioneers lasted as long as they could, made a lot of great music on em. Time to move on!

Budget acquired. Plan set. Now, can I cross the bridge?

Orderly Chaos

I mentioned before a project I was working on with my friend Ano666 from THEE PROjECT. It was previously named Project Mayhem, but since there is already a band with that name, we decided to call it something else:

ANARCHISTATION (all credit goes to Anwar on this one).

I like it! It's chaos and troublemaking, but it is designated a place. Orderly chaos, my music production methodology. I live by it, why not get a name that fits it?

The sound we are going for is the harder nether-regions of the metal and electronica mash-up soundscape. We have two tracks in the works, one 90% complete, the other 60%. A third is on the way.

Once we complete 3 tracks we will be ready to share the mayhem with the world. STAY TUNED!

A Little Faith in Indigo

So I am in the middle of a number of very interesting projects right now, but today I'll be revealing one in particular. I found out my friend Eyad Ebrahim is an avid fan of dub step and trip hop and his love of the genres has made him long to start learning to produce tracks in those styles. I too have been greatly interested in this corner of the electronic music scene, with a lot of interesting stuff coming out of the underground UK step scene. I got especially interested when I noticed a lot of D'n'B artists moving towards dub step. And so Eyad and I decided to start a project: Indigo Flow.

Now ages ago I got vocals sent to me by Ameera Ali, another local aspiring artist. The direction I went with was trance, and I was not happy with the results to be honest. So the other day I started thinking of ways to work with the sample and not let it go to waste, and decided to take the plunge and try a dub step number.

The result. The first Indigo Glow track.

It's just a demo version, as the vocals were not professionally recorded and the music is unmastered, but the jist of the track is already there. Comments highly appreciated!

After a good break in Prague I am back in Bahrain with an extra week off of work, and that means more time to churn out the chunes! I decided to dedicate this time to my collaborations, because they allow me to get out of that 4/4 beat comfort zone I keep hiding in.

For now there are three exciting projects I am involved in that i will be concentrating on:

1. Collabo with Ahmed Alsairafi - I've known this guy for a long time and have always respected his guitar shredding skills. He helped me out with some guitar overlays for a mix I did for the Thirst DJ competition and also provided the guitars and bass in my track "Talkbox20". I was asked by Ahmed to add a a drum beat to a track from his archives called "State of Mind" and so far it sounds very promising! I literally JUST sent him the first un-polished draft sample.

2. Project MAYHEM - If you're a Bahraini Metal-head then you definitely know who THEE PROjECT are. I have been a proud fan ever since the first few demo tracks Ano and Necrohead hammered out of rage! Ano gave me the opportunity to remix the track "AbuRiff" and it landed me a spot on their album, and was a real fun project for me! Now Ano and I are experimenting with a crazy, angry matrimony of ROCK and TECH. So far two tracks in progress, both sounding VERY promising!

3. We haven't named this project yet, but that's because we haven't started yet! Tomorrow, Eyad and I will be flirting with the underground sounds of DUB. We're aiming for a spectrum that ranges from Trip-Hop to Heavy Dub Step. This project will definitely require some vocalists so if you're interested please give either of us a holler and we'll give it a shot.

This week is passing too fast for me to keep up so I'm going to try to squeeze as much out of my lazy muse as possible! My virb page is down so for now stream my music off of my facebook page or ask me for a download.

New Year, New Track!

I just uploaded a new track on my virb and facebook fan page. I named it "The Island" (try to take a guess as to why that is) and the best way I know how to describe it is a slamming big-room techno bomb LOL!

Cardona & Balzan - Deep Down Inside

Finally another remix project comes my way! Cardona & Balzan (a.k.a. Kaisho DJs) my Scottish brothers have just finished their track "Deep Down Inside" and I'm gonna make an effort into remixing it! The original is deep, driving, funky progressive house track with an old school female vocal. Will sit and ponder the direction I'm going with this later when I get home.
